Get to know art through the symbols in Samuel Bak’s artwork

The interactive lecture ‘What is art for?’ is an educational tool for non-formal education that encourages high school students to discover the artwork of Samuel Bak and to look for a unique, distinctive meaning in art.

You can get to know art in places other than galleries, and there are other ways besides school of learning to understand it. We believe in education without borders, therefore, we have created this digital tool that allows you to embark on a journey full of symbols, interpretations and unexpected discoveries around the extraordinary creative world of Samuel Bak.

It only takes a few clicks to see the most famous works of the artist on display at the Samuel Bak Museum in Vilnius, the Pucker Gallery in Boston and the Kunst Archive website.

We believe that the unique visual expression and descriptions that help to absorb new knowledge and questions that activate thoughts will allow us to discover our own key to strength. The difference is that here, in the virtual space, there is no teacher – everyone has the freedom to choose their own interpretation of the artwork for themselves, without fear of making mistakes.

‘Tolerance through art’ is a long-term initiative inspired by life and artwork of the artist Samuel Bak. The aim of this initiative is to use modern interactive means to encourage an open discussion about both the past and the current issues sensitive to society, to discover historical signs and the importance of tolerance in them.

The first projects of this initiative: a multimedia-based educational tour of Vilnius’ ‘The Path of Samuel Bak’ and an interactive lecture based on the artwork of Samuel Bak – ‘What is art for?’.
